Can you guess who titled this blog? There is a running joke in Sam's family that he is "the golden child" the one who does no wrong, at least that is what his sisters started calling him! Last month my husband turned 27! We had a much more relaxed
birthday celebration for him this year compared to last year. See “Bravo for a
Birthday” blog to read about last year. Sam was working on a court martial, which
is the equivalent of jury duty for the Air Force the week before his birthday.
It kept him pretty late into the evening, especially on Friday night. Luckily,
it was all over by Friday night and we had the rest of the weekend to celebrate
the wonderful m and that is Sam.

Look at that cute baby! He grew up to be quite the man of God, "When God made you, he must have been thinking about me" You are a perfect husband, Sam! |
On Saturday, January 11th, we took a day trip to Bolsover
Castle which is located in Bolsover, for those unfamiliar with anything other
than London in England it is near Nottingham, so in the north of England. We
stopped to eat a pub first and enjoyed delicious food. Then we walked over to
the castle to do some exploring. It is hard to do day trips in the winter
because everything closes really early, but we had plenty of time. Bolsover
castle was built by the Peverel family in the 12th century. During
the civil war the castle fell into ruins but was restored in 1676. The castle
is now under the care of English heritage. After our day out Sam wanted to
spend the evening at home, eating pizza and watching a movie, guess that comes
with his old age ;)

Castle ruins...hi Sam! |
|
This was once the kitchen to the castle |
|
The sun was shinning beautifully on the country side, we really have had a mild winter here, I certainly can't complain |
|
Gorgeous, the wall of the castle, man I wonder what that looked like in the 12th century. |

We love our Saturday day trips together! |
|
Of course...I had to charge the castle. So I get really tired of seeing scaffolding everywhere we go in the winter, but really it is a neat thing because they are constantly restoring and preserving old buildings. Here they are making the balconies look more like they would've in the 12th century, we may never see the finished product, but it is cool to see history in the process. |

Sam loves castles |
Sam’s actually birthday is on 13 January which was Monday. I
attempted to make his favorite dessert, raspberry cheesecake, which looked
prettier in the pinterest picture. However, the cake was super delicious. After
work on Monday I drove Sam out to Norwich, about an hour away, for a surprise
sushi dinner. It is hard to find good sushi around here but there is an all you
can eat sushi bar in Norwich that is to die for! We had a great time and left
super stuffed. We came home and had cake/present time. Sam loved all his gifts that
family and friends sent over.

No birthday is complete without balloons or flowers! |

Our night out in Norwich |

MO pride and his favorite, Hannah Montana, thanks Steph and Nate! |
|
Whisky and a gift card, thanks Rach and Josh! |
|
Coffee press, Sam uses this everyday, thanks sister and Ben! Oh yeah...those are my Christmas decorations still up in mid January :/ |
|
I thought I had ruined the cheesecake... |
|
Luckily, the raspberries covered it up... |
|
And it turned out to be super yummy and I don't even care for cheesecake! |
I am very blessed to share my life with such a kind, caring,
patient and loving man! Even though it was well over a month ago, I hope you
had a great 27th birthday, Sam!
Thanks for Reading!
Amanda
